Echoes in the Hourglass

The dead don't always rest quietly — and in Whisperglen, some of them have very strong opinions about who gets to keep the shop.

Juniper "June" Jones has built a perfectly imperfect life at The Spirited Antique — a shop that smells of old magic and older tea, and whose other residents include a goblin with strong opinions about inventory and a medieval knight who refuses to leave. Then her landlord turns up dead, his sharp-eyed niece arrives with an eviction notice, and June discovers that the antique hourglass found at the scene doesn't just measure time. It remembers it.

To save her home, June must solve a murder — with a skeptical sheriff who doesn't believe in magic, a killer who very much does, and an hourglass that holds the only witness to the truth. The sands are running out. And someone in Whisperglen will do anything to make sure they keep running.

About Daphne

A cozy midnight reading nook — Daphne Corbett's world

"Some stories arrive like a knock at midnight — insistent, unexplained, impossible to ignore."

Daphne Corbett writes the kinds of mysteries that happen in the spaces between the ordinary and the impossible — where a ghost cat curls on the hearthrug, the tea is always the right temperature, and the murder was definitely committed by someone who should have known better than to meddle with old magic.

She has always been drawn to the liminal: the hour just before dawn, the room at the back of the antique shop, the page of the grimoire that was never meant to be read. Her paranormal cozy mysteries are steeped in atmosphere, anchored by warmth, and populated by characters who are flawed, funny, and fiercely loyal.

When she isn't writing, Daphne can be found haunting secondhand bookshops for volumes with cracked spines and cryptic marginalia, brewing improbably strong tea, and conducting extensive research into whether cats can, in fact, see ghosts. (The evidence, she maintains, is inconclusive but suggestive.)

Her debut novel, Echoes in the Hourglass, arrives mid 2026 and introduces Juniper "June" Jones — keeper of The Spirited Antique, reluctant sleuth, and the only person in the magical town of Whisperglen who can hear what the dead are trying to say.
